Free Buddhism Expo

The Buddhism Expo kicks off Buddhist Festival Month on 1 & 2 May 2010.

Open to the general public, this FREE community event welcomes anyone wanting to know more about Buddhism.

Opportunities abound to experience meditation workshops, authentic Buddhist chanting from around the world and the opportunity to speak with respected Buddhist teachers from right around the nation and internationally.

The emphasis is on informing, experiencing and participating in the practical application of Buddhist teachings to daily life.

Explore Buddhism through interactive displays, communities, stories, hands-on activities and artifacts – open yourself to what Buddhism means and where it can help you in your everyday life.

Visit the Exhibition, where you can investigate, ask questions, meet others who are at various stages along the path, see how Buddhism fits in our modern society, offering mindfulness, meditation, compassion, wisdom, insight and understanding to a world in need.

There will be experienced practitioners on-hand to guide you through the exhibits and their meaning; or you can just wonder through at your own pace. Also, there will be monks and nuns from the various traditions on-hand to meet and chat with you.

Then visit the Community Room, where you will discover stalls occupied by various Buddhist organisations offering books, CDs, incense, information brochures, bells, cushions and much, much more.

And finally, visit the Practice Room for an experience that will stay with you long after you leave.

Sessions will be held every half hour and cover meditation, chanting and talks. You don’t have to be a practicing Buddhist to get involved; you just need and open mind and desire for more information.

Entry to all three rooms is FREE.
